Care & Maintenance

Your glass fence is built to last with minimal upkeep. Here's how to keep it looking brand new for years.

Glass Panels

Routine Cleaning (Monthly)

  1. Rinse panels with a garden hose to remove loose dirt and debris.
  2. Apply a standard glass cleaner or a mix of warm water and a few drops of dish soap.
  3. Wipe with a soft cloth, sponge, or squeegee.
  4. Rinse and let air dry, or buff with a microfiber cloth for a streak-free finish.

Deep Cleaning (As Needed)

For hard water stains, calcium buildup, or stubborn marks:

  • Use white vinegar (undiluted) applied to a cloth. Let it sit for 2–3 minutes, then wipe clean.
  • For tough mineral deposits, a commercial hard water stain remover designed for glass works well.
  • A magic eraser can remove scuff marks — use gently.
Avoid These

Never use abrasive pads, steel wool, razor blades, or acidic/alkaline cleaners (bleach, ammonia-based products) on tempered glass. These can cause micro-scratches or damage the surface.

Stainless Steel Spigots & Hardware

Routine Care (Every 3–6 Months)

  1. Wipe down spigots and hardware with a damp cloth and mild soap.
  2. Dry thoroughly with a clean cloth to prevent water spots.
  3. For a polished finish, apply a small amount of stainless steel cleaner or baby oil on a cloth and buff.

Coastal / Saltwater Environments

If you live near the ocean or have a saltwater pool, clean stainless steel components monthly to prevent salt corrosion:

  • Rinse thoroughly with fresh water after heavy salt exposure.
  • Apply a marine-grade stainless steel protectant quarterly.
  • Inspect for any early signs of tea staining (brownish discoloration) — this is cosmetic and can be removed with a stainless steel cleaner.

Silicone Sealant

Check the sealant around spigot base plates annually. If you notice cracking, peeling, or gaps:

  1. Remove the old sealant with a utility knife or sealant remover.
  2. Clean the area and let it dry.
  3. Apply a fresh bead of exterior-grade silicone sealant.
  4. Allow 24 hours to cure.

Gate Hardware

  • Test the self-closing mechanism monthly — the gate should close and latch from any open position.
  • Lubricate hinges with a silicone-based lubricant every 6 months.
  • Adjust spring tension if the gate closes too slowly or too forcefully (refer to your gate hardware instructions).

Seasonal Checklist
